The convenience of the internet: (artifact 1)

The internet has definitely influenced the way I find information.  I do not need a television in my dorm room because I can find everything I need on the internet.  I do not watch much television but spend hours online. It seems that every time I go online twenty minutes will turn into an hour.  When I have nothing to do, I will sit on the internet looking up unintelligent websites and waste away as my brain turns into mush.  Information is instant when it comes to the web. Who needs to go to the mall or store when a person can buy everything online?   The internet has also been a great way to catch up with old friends, which I have not seen in years.  As much as I do not like Facebook, it is hard to delete it because it is my way of keeping in contact with friends and family.  In addition, to being a part of the social network, I also spend time catching up on my favorite television shows.  I prefer watching shows on a television because it is better quality, but websites like Hulu and Youtube are more convenient.  The handiness of the internet is what makes it so compelling. Time is of the essences when you are a college student. Having something as fast as the internet at your fingertips keeps people coming back.  My 21-month nephew even knows what the internet is for; he sits and watches Sesame Street for hours.  The statistics in the article are not surprising because the internet has changed the way people find knowledge, and spend their time.
